We all love fried food! After all, what’s not to love about crispy pork chops and fried chicken, right? And for those wanting something a bit on the lighter side, the air fryer is something worth trying! It has revolutionized the way we cook and consume fried food. With lesser adverse effects from oil but with the same tasty flavors, the air fryer has limitless options. Here are some of our favorite air fryer recipes.
How the Air Fryer Works
In the cooking process, this new method simply circulates hot air around the food similar to how a convection oven works. A mechanical fan fries your food in quick motion to cause caramelization and the Maillard reaction (the reduction of sugars and chemical reactions between amino acids) to give you that crispy brown goodness.
It’s definitely a healthier way to fry food as compared to the more conventional methods of deep-frying. If you’re intrigued about this new cooking alternative and want to try out how air-fried food would get along with your taste buds, here’s a couple of the best recipes we’ve found online!
Looking for easy yet delicious pork chop recipes? This shake-and-bake wonder will surely rock your world.
Set your air fryer to 400℉ and let it heat for 10 minutes. While waiting, mix one large egg with a tablespoon of mustard in a bowl and sprinkle some salt on both sides of your pork chops.
Prepare a zip-top bag and put ¼ cup of dried breadcrumbs, ½ cup of panko breadcrumbs, ¼ cup of finely grated parmesan cheese, and a pinch each of garlic and onion powder. Shake well.
Once your breading is mixed well and ready, dip your pork chops into the egg and mustard batter and place each one inside the zip-top bag. Shake just enough to cover the pork chops evenly.
Coat your air fryer basket with cooking spray, and place your pork chops by twos into the air fryer with each side cooked for around six minutes. Once each pork chop is cooked to a golden and crispy brown, serve them with some mashed potatoes and greens as sides for a filling and delicious main course!
Mini Pizza Calzones
For quick appetizers that are big in every bite, check out this Mini Pizza Calzones recipe.
Roll your dough flat on a surface and cut out circles with a biscuit cutter. Roll each circle making sure that each one is four and a half inches in diameter. Then fill each with a teaspoon of pizza sauce, slices of pepperoni, and some mozzarella cheese. Fold them and secure the edges by making crimps with a fork.
Set your air fryer to 375℉. Line the basket with parchment paper sprayed with oil. Place your batch of calzones into the basket and sprinkle a bit more oil over just so they won’t stick together.
All it takes is about six to eight minutes for a side to turn golden brown. But allot just two more minutes when you turn them over and fry the other side.
Serve this tasty treat along with your favorite ale!
Air Fried Baked Sweet Potatoes
This potato-fried delight is an awesome air fryer recipe.
First, make sure you clean and dry your sweet potatoes. Wash and scrub them thoroughly to get rid of residual dirt. Then towel them off for a good and clean bake and roast.
Before placing them in your air fryer basket, poke small holes into them using fork tines. Then season the sweet potatoes with salt, pepper, and some olive oil for coating. Place them in the basket and cook at 390℉ for about 50 minutes, flipping them over to the other side at the 25-minute mark.
That’s it! Serve your air-fried sweet potatoes with some butter or any cream sauce of your choice and enjoy!
This air fryer recipe makes use of both the heat from your air fryer and the cold from your freezer!
Dig into your kitchen pantry and take out 12-ounce mozzarella cheese sticks, some mayo, one large egg, all-purpose flour, breadcrumbs, onion and garlic powder, and marinara sauce.
Start by halving the cheese sticks and placing them on a rimmed baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place the sticks inside the freezer for 30 minutes to keep the cheese intact and prevent them from melting.
Whisk a quarter cup of mayonnaise with one large egg in a bowl. Then mix in a quarter cup each of all-purpose flour and dry breadcrumbs, along with pinches of onion and garlic powder in a separate container.
Take out the frozen cheese sticks and roll them into the egg-mayo batter until entirely coated, then again on the flour mixture. Once all of your cheese sticks are covered, place them back inside the freezer for 10 more minutes.
Heat your air fryer to 370℉ and start frying your mozzarella cheese sticks for six minutes per batches of six. Make sure they are placed in the basket with enough spaces in between for an even cook.
Once done, serve the cheese sticks with marinara sauce!
