We’re deep into holiday season, and I can’t help but feeling extremely festive this year. As the weather’s finally been cooling down, I’ve been experimenting with different baked goods recipes, have adopted the hot toddy as my go to drink, and have also been wearing my plush robe more frequently at home when I feel like curling up and watching one of the many holiday movies on Netflix.
With the onslaught of delicious, hearty foods and a steep decline in physical activity, I’ve found it necessary to take action in the kitchen as my stomach hasn’t been feeling the best. Although it’s more than okay to indulge in all that the holiday season has to offer, I have a special recipe in store for you that’ll not only kick start your digestive system but will give you a boost of energy amongst the other positive benefits tied to each of these ingredients.
Without further adieu, here’s what you’ll need to concoct my Weekly Detox Drink.
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
½ tsp ginger powder
1 tsp cinnamon powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 dash of cayenne pepper
1 tsp honey (preferably manuka!)
16 oz of warm or hot water
- In a large 16 – 20 oz glass, add all dry ingredients: ginger, cinnamon, turmeric, & cayenne pepper
- Add fresh lemon juice and apple cider vinegar
- Pour warm or hot water into the glass
- Add honey
- Mix with a spoon
I specified this as a “Weekly” Detox Drink because the combination of ACV & fresh lemon juice can be a bit harsh on the stomach when consumed frequently. Feel free to up your dose based on how these ingredients affect your stomach!
