With the legalization and decriminalization of hemp products and marijuana, CBD usage has grown increasingly popular. Companies everywhere are adding it to their products to not only help others, but to grow along with the ever growing hemp industry. According to Forbes Magazine, the CBD industry was expected to grow 700% from 2015 to 2020 alone. CBD has many different benefits not only for your body and mind, but can help your skin as well.

So What is CBD?

CBD stands for cannabidiol which is derived from the sativa strain of marijuana. This product has many benefits without the psychoactive/euphoric effect related to the marijuana plant.  Depending on who you talk to, this could be good or bad. Very few people have a negative reaction to CBD, and those who do often also have reactions or sensitivities to over the counter medications such as Advil or Tylenol. This is definitely something to consider before taking it orally.

What Are the Benefits of Using CBD in Skincare?

While there are many beneficial health benefits with using CBD, there are also many beauty benefits as well! According to popular skincare brand, Paula’s Choice, cannabidiol can be beneficial for acne prone and sensitive skin, has anti-aging benefits and can help with wrinkles. It has the perks of having anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and soothing properties.

While all these are extremely exciting, all CBD additives in skin care are not created equal. Be sure to check the label when purchasing and look for what fits you. There’s CBD isolates, which is pure cannabidiol. There is also Full Spectrum and Broad Spectrum CBD. The difference between the two is Full Spectrum CBD has minuscule traces of THC found in the oil, whereas Broad Spectrum has such small amounts of THC in it that it can’t be traced.

Products Worth Trying:

Paula’s Choice CBD Oil + Retinol – $54.00

Having anti-aging properties, this retinol and CBD oil combo is great for aging skin. Paula’s Choice is Probably one of my favorite brands due to how natural the line is. It’s 98% naturally derived and has 150mg of Full Spectrum CBD oil in it. Retinol can be extremely harsh on the skin and combining it with a cannabidiol oil allows for the retinol to exfoliate the skin while the CBD calms it down.

Truly Flower Child Anti-Aging CBD Face Cream – $35.00

This phenomenal face cream incorporates CBD and helps to prevent any blemishes as well as calm down any redness from current acne breakouts. It does all of this while helping reduce the appearance of dullness and rough texture. This item unfortunately doesn’t have what type of CBD is in the product listed on their website which is something to take into consideration when purchasing.

The CBD Skin Care Co. Exfoliating Hemp Facial Cleanser – $34.00

With scents of orange and grapefruit and infused with 100mg of full spectrum CBD, this exfoliating cleanser is a must to purchase. At its price point and all the benefits of infusing the skin with hydration while encouraging the production of collagen and refining the skin for a smoother texture. This product is also certified organic and is formulated without gluten, parabens, and sulfates.

Kana Skincare Lavender Sleeping Mask – $55

This broad-spectrum CBD sleep mask works to hydrate, heal, and brighten your skin all while you sleep! Sleeping masks are my preferred type of masks due to the intense hydration you receive all while doing nothing but sleeping. Infused with lavender and german Chamomile oils, this sleep mask is sure to do wonders to your skin. Lavender is used to treat any inflammation you may see within the skin and camomile will help restore suppleness and moisturizes the skin.

Populum Lavender + CBD Face Oil – $79.00

Can’t seem to get enough of lavender face products? This face oil would match perfectly with the Kana Skincare Lavender Sleeping Mask and would leave your skin feeling ultra hydrated and calm. At a whopping 250mg of full spectrum CBD oil, this face serum is by far the best priced for the amount of CBD you get. This face oil also includes grapeseed oil which is known to soak into the skin without leaving your skin feeling oily and gross. This is by far a must purchase for me.

Prima CBD Serum Booster – $42.00

Featuring 100 mg Broad-Spectrum CBD, this serum is sure to wow your skin. This serum helps calm down the appearance of redness, discoloration, and gives your skin a radiant finish. This serum booster can be added into your favorite serum or oil to give your skin some more TLC when it needs a drink of hydration. While this bottle may be on the smaller end of the spectrum, it goes a long way. This serum booster is a definite must have in your skincare collection.

Revolution Beauty CBD Tonic – $14.00

This tonic gets an honorable mention from me due to its price point. While CBD tends to be a bit on the pricier end of the spectrum, Revolution Beauty has come out with a cannabidiol product that won’t hurt your wallet. With tea tree oil infused into this tonic, it’s sure to leave your skin feeling invigorated and refreshed. The only downside to this tonic is that Cannabinoid is 18th on the ingredient list. This lets us know that there may not actually be that much CBD in the product and should be taken into consideration when purchasing.

While CBD products may be on the more expensive price spectrum for health and skin care products, I definitely believe the benefits make choosing a cannabidiol product worthwhile. You receive many different and amazing outcomes for your skin. In addition, these products will last longer. As with many higher end brands, a little product goes a long way. When purchasing CBD Skincare, always be sure to look to see what kind of CBD it is. We would love to know what products you’re loving so be sure to leave a comment and let us know!
