Did someone say virtual happy hour?? Here are some favorite classic cocktails to embrace the approaching summer season with your friends via a virtual hang.

Mo’ Money, Mo’ Netflix, Mo’ Jito

To many people, mojito represents the perfect rum cocktail. This Cuban drink is traditionally served over ice in a highball glass and often associated with summer. It is usually mixed with rum, lime, mint, sugar and soda water to create a delicious and refreshing classic cocktail to lighten up your home quarantine mood!

If life gives you lemons.. return them, ask for lime, and make mojitos!

What you’ll need:

2 oz White rum

3 mint leaves

3/4 oz fresh lime juice

1/2 oz simple syrup

Club soda, to top

Garnish: Mint sprig

Garnish: Lime wheel

Then you’ll:

  1. Lightly muddle the mint in a shaker.
  2. Add the rum, lime juice, simple syrup and ice and give it a brief shake.
  3. Strain into a highball glass over fresh ice.
  4. Top with the club soda.
  5. Garnish with a mint sprig and lime wheel.

Apartment-Bound Amaretto Sour

amaretto sour

Amaretto sours sometimes rely on premade mix, which can make them overly sweet. But with the right amount of ingredients, and a mood for trying something new, you can definitely pull off a frothy, sweet, sour, nutty and perfectly balanced Amaretto Sour.

What you’ll need:

1 1/2 ounces amaretto liqueur

3/4 ounce cask-proof bourbon

1 ounce fresh lemon juice

1 tsp. rich simple syrup

1/2 ounce egg white, beaten

Garnish: lemon twist

Garnish: brandied cherries

Then you’ll:

  1. Add all ingredients into a shaker and dry-shake (no ice).
  2. Add ice and shake again until chilled.
  3. Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
  4. Garnish with a lemon twist and 2 skewered brandied cherries.
  5. See the original recipe here.

The Pretending-I’m-On-The-Beach Margarita

With the combination of the tang of lime, sweetness of orange liqueur and distinctive strength of tequila, Margaritas absolutely hit all the right spots.

Tip: Many people prefer the pre-made sour mix but we recommend using fresh lime juice. Also take note: the only thing better than a Margarita.. are two Margaritas.

What you’ll need:

2 oz Blanco tequila

1 oz Fresh lime juice

1/2 oz Orange liqueur

1/2 oz Agave syrup

Garnish: Lime wheel

Garnish: Kosher salt (optional)

Then you’ll:

  1. Add all the ingredients into a shaker with ice, and shake until chilled.
  2. Strain into the prepared rocks glass over fresh ice.
  3. Garnish with a lime wheel and kosher salt.

Lazy Lemon Drop

lemon drop

For about a decade or two, the lemon drop dominated cocktail menus from North Beach to Bangkok, hooking a generation of bar-goers on its “boozy-tart-sweet” blend of vodka, citrus and sugar. Oprah famously served one to Rachel Ray on her show by the way…

Don’t be surprised if this drink will be your main squeeze for your next virtual happy hour.

What you’ll need:

2 ounces vodka

1/2 ounce triple sec

1 ounce simple syrup

1 ounce fresh lemon juice

Garnish: sugar rim

Then you’ll:

  1. Coat the rim of a cocktail glass with sugar and set aside (do this a few minutes ahead of time so the sugar can dry and adhere well to the glass).
  2. Add all the ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake.
  3. Strain into the prepared glass.
